On the third day of the training, Svetlana from Amber Initiatives talked about her experience with volunteering management, either in youth organisations or in animal welfare organisation.
When we compare volunteering in United Kingdom to Central and Eastern Europe, we can easily see the differences and attitude about it. Volunteering in UK is much more supported and widespread. What is surprising, is that in UK there is a lot of volunteers from age to 60 and more, also lot of young people under 18. In here, retired people have lots of spare time and do not mind using it to help others. However, usually the most popular age for volunteering in Europe is still between 18 - 30.
In their groups sorted by country, the participants prepare short presentation about how people view volunteering in their countries. Each group prepared list of reasons, pros and cons. The groups circled around, so everyone could see. Later, after everyone saw all everything, we voted for the best presentation. And the price for the best presentation goes to ........ Belarus, as they made a very colourful and engaging presentation about volunteering in their animal shelter.
